I hear you Kevin but the issue I have not so much centred around the benefits of the exercise but rather WHERE the exercises are being performed. Nothing irritates me more than someone coughing and sniffling in a humid gym where germs spread like wildfire.

Home workouts will do just great but going out in a public gym and putting others at risk is inconsiderate. When you’re making great progress, the last thing you need is a cold that’ll keep you below peak performance for a week.

So while I think its good to stay active, I just don’t feel people should go to a public gym and workout there as they will only spread the cold and make others ill.

    Just my 2 pence.

Nice article. I’ve always wondered if working out with a cold really affected your ability to get well – though I assumed that it didn’t because by the time you start feeling symptoms, your immune system is already hard at work defeating the virus. Be that as it may, when I’m sick I always shut it down for a couple days because my sleep (and therefore my ability to recover from my workout) suffers because of the illness. I just feel like I’m better able to “come back strong” if I rest. I guess it just comes down to the individual.
