The True Story of How
a Graphic Designer Went From Chubby to
Pretty Darn Ripped in 8 weeks

… And How You Can Too!

Me

Hey guys,

I’m really stoked (and proud) to share my experience with you! I was able to get in the best shape of my life in way less time than I ever imagined.

But first of all, I know how the internet can be. I work on it all day.

EVERYthing (just about) is over-hyped and full of nonsense.

I also know that when you see my final results, you’ll probably think that I’m full of crap as well.

I’m not. Promise.

Here’s me from the start to finish…

8week-progress

Hard to believe? Absolutely.

Was there a secret magic supplement I took? No.

Was it easy? Easy, no… Simple, yes.

So, I have been a graphic designer for 12 years (since 2002) but during this past recession the company I worked for had to downsize and layoff some of my friends.

I had my second daughter (pictured above) on the way. I didn’t know what I would do if I was laid off next. I did not handle this pressure well.

After about 6-8 months of “poor eating” and “poor drinking” – I found myself very unhealthy. My blood pressure hit an all time high at 176/114 – no joke. It’s supposed to be 120/70.

I honestly felt like I was going to have a heart attack or a stroke.

Game over. Dad’s dead…

My wife made me an appointment at the Dr.’s office. And that’s when I got a sobering slap in the face – I was now on blood pressure medication at the age of 31.

On top of that, I had a beer belly, soft pecs (yes, man boobs), and I had zero energy. I was depressed, tired and frustrated with myself.

I finally decided that I wanted to do something about it. And since I was going to get “in shape” I wanted to go all out… I wanted to get ripped!

In the past I had been able to build SOME muscle and lose SOME fat through traditional “bulking” and “cutting” phases but it took forever and I never really looked that great.

I remember working out for months and months, never missing workouts, eating “clean” and pushing hard.

After years of that I still only looked average.

I just wanted to finally get ripped for once in my life.

Obviously I didn’t want to look chubby … but I also didn’t want to like some soft, poofy, steroid-inflated bodybuilder. I wanted the lean and toned look.

Brad Pitt, Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman … those guys have great builds.

But there was just one huge problem with this…

Celebrities spend hours in the gym with a personal trainer everyday to look like this. But I didn’t have hours to spend.

As impossible as it sounded, my plan had to make this:

  • quick to achieve
  • easy to maintain
  • work around my full-time job, wife and kids

… as long as it would work, I promised myself I’d work my butt off during each session.

I really didn’t care about how strong I was or how big I could get. I just wanted to be ripped!

I had been planning a trip to Maui and I wanted to feel confident when I took my shirt off.

I searched and tried just about everything.

I read all the Muscle magazines. Did all of Arnold’s workouts. You name it, I probably gave it a shot.

rustyAnd this is what finally lead me to find Rusty Moore.

Rusty Moore is a a fitness author who is completely focused on helping guys build a “Hollywood Physique”.

Daniel Craig. Brad Pitt. You get the idea!

Long story short, I got my hands on a couple of his workouts.

Honestly, at first I was very skeptical. What Rusty teaches goes against everything that I had previously learned.

But I decided to just go for it… I was desperate and nothing I’d been doing was actually working.

Here is a photo I took from my iMac at work the day I started the new workout.

Me - Start

  • Body Fat: 13.5% (according to my scale)

Not horrible, but I wanted better.

I wanted to finally do it this time. I promised myself I was going to get RIPPED.

Here’s a picture I took from my iMac 2 weeks later…

May not look like much at first but I had lost 8 pounds (mostly water-weight) and 2% body fat in 2 weeks.

And then, after 4 weeks…

Wednesday, February 8

  • Weight: 168 lbs
  • Body Fat: 10% (according to my scale)

I was blown away. After one month I was down 13 pounds and 3% body fat.

I continued to follow Rusty’s advice.

I lifted exactly like he laid out in the program.

Here’s my 6 week picture…

All was going good. I was beyond stoked… so was my wife 😉

In the meantime, our vacation to Maui was was coming up and I knew my shirt was coming off now.

I decided to keep going. I followed the workout for 2 more weeks.

I even went tanning. (Yes, the tan definitely helps)

Here was the last picture I took for this 8 week stretch.

I Want to Help You!

... But to do that, I need some help from you.

I'm in the process of doing some research. I may even write a book about it. It's on the struggles and reasons us guys want to get in shape.

I'm trying to understand the PROBLEMS shared by other guys who want to get in shape, be it "ripped" or not.

I have two questions for you:

1. Does my story resonate with you?

2. What are the biggest challenges you face in getting the build you want?

I would greatly appreciate and value any feedback and insights you could provide.
