Creating The Best Bodybuilding Workout Routines To Build Mass And Gain More Muscle

One of the most traditional bodybuilding workout routines is the 3 day split. There are many variations of the 3 day split but overall they are all similar. The 3 day split is a very popular workout routine and arguably the best approach to building mass. What I really like about this routine over other bodybuilding workout routines is that you are able to focus on working one group of muscles at a time, allowing other groups to rest.

Now, when you think of bodybuilders you might think of those guys that are just plain huge. Big round muscles bulging out of their shirt and forearms the size of most guy’s legs. This is not the type of body that I personally advocate building.

Bodybuilding Workout Routines

Often those who concentrate too much on bodybuilding workout routines will look a bit rounded and soft. Once you build enough size, focus on shaping and toning the muscle.

A good way to avoid having this soft look is to add in different sets and reps along with strategic cardio. However, if you need to gain muscle mass, this is the go-to workout routine for pure size.

If you want to add muscle mass as well as muscle density, checkout this bulking up workout. When it comes to pure size though, traditional bodybuilding workout routines do work better.

How Many Reps To Build Muscle? Depends On The Type Of Muscle You Want To Build!

When it comes to building muscle mass there are quite a few different approaches and techniques out there. Quite a few of them work and quite a few don’t work. If you want to build muscle, you need to know how many reps to build muscle and how to do those reps. You can luck out and build muscle without even knowing how you’re doing it, but it’s nice to know what works and what doesn’t so you can build muscle efficiently!

How Many Reps To Build Muscle

Basically, determining how many reps to build muscle depends on the type of muscle that you hope to build.

For example, there are guys that have an amazing amount of muscle mass but they look really bad. A lot of the time they look soft and bloated. That’s not the type of muscle that you should be trying to build.

But what about the really skinny guys? Even though they could still benefit greatly from adding even some of that “soft” muscle the huge guys have, here are a few things to consider.

A Bulking Up Workout Plan For Skinny Guys To Gain Lean Muscle Without Ruining A Defined Physique

Generally a bulking phase alternated with a cutting phase is not a great approach to building a lean and muscular body. Most of the time I feel that slowly building lean muscle is smarter & healthier and allows you to look good while you’re doing it. Of course though, there are going to be exceptions to the rule. If done correctly (smartly) then you can get away with following a bulking up workout plan and still maintain a low level of body fat.

Bulking Up Workout

Although I talk a lot on this blog about getting lean and defined muscles and not so much about bulking up, I do feel that it is important to have a good muscle base. Usually, a lot of guys looking to get in shape have a decent amount and should focus on getting lean and toned as a priority. There are, however quite a few guys out there who would like to add some size — I know I like to build muscle a few different times throughout the year and this bulking up workout plan is quite effective.

When it comes to “superheros” one of the toughest has got to be Wolverine! I think the instant the trailers started for X-Men Origins: Wolverine every man and aspiring comic book hero went online for the details to the Hugh Jackman workout routine. What you will find though, is in addition to the physical aspect, Jackman found that he had to continually push the limits by staying mentally tough. I think it’s pretty obvious that you need to push yourself to become the Wolverine!

Hugh Jackman Workout

“When I have 315 pounds above me, there’s that little breaking point,” he says. “You either get really pissed off at that weight, or you ask for help from your spotter. It’s that exact point — and every guy reading this article will recognize it — when Wolverine gets not just pissed off, but insanely pissed off. I try to reach that point every day in my workout. And then push through it.” – Hugh Jackman in an interview with Men’s Health

Even though this is not some magical workout routine or that by following along exactly and doing the Hugh Jackman workout to a the letter will not guarantee you the same results, there are still some very positive things we can take away from what his trainers had him do in preparation for his role as Wolverine.

If You Have Been Working Out And Cannot Gain Muscle Mass Anymore – This Might Help

If you’ve been lifting for a long time you have no doubt experienced some relatively easy gains followed by some disheartening plateaus. If you are struggling and cannot gain muscle mass like you used to, you aren’t alone. These types of plateaus don’t just happen with trying to build muscle either, it seems that many who have a decent amount of weight to lose find that what was once working well is now ineffective, or at least inefficient and needs to be intensified.

Cannot Gain Muscle Mass

Unless you have put on a fair amount of muscle in the past, chances are that you can get sufficient results from training in a similar manner to what you are accustomed. Your body’s frame is really only intended to put on a certain amount of muscle. The amount of muscle mass we need versus how much muscle mass we would like is probably quite a bit different. Having said that though, there are ways gain more muscle despite a recent lack of gains.
