Burpees for a Mile – WOW, that’s insane.
I liked how many people were walking along with him in the video. Come on people, join in the insanity.

BTW, I like how you include the video. Are you using jQueryUI’s Dialog?

Aside from that the burpees are incredible exercises. I’ve done them in tabata’s like you suggest and often combine them with situps for an 8 minute killer workout.

One variation that is fun is the Burpee-Pullup. Do them under the pullup bar, then when you jump, grab the bar, do a pull up, drop to the group. The first few are really jumping pullups, but as you drag the entire movement gets harder, and harder, and …. well you get the idea.

I’m not huge on situps, but I could see how adding in some planks during your “rest” time would be pretty fun twist, and the pullup addition, very cool!

Since you’re running a WP site, you can just use this plugin: http://www.23systems.net/plugins/lightbox-plus/ — makes life easier 😀

Burpees are a great full body exercise. Nice variations for people who can’t do the whole movement at once too. I thought Tabata burpees were hard enough but burpees for a mile…yikes!

I know — I actually considered giving the 1 mile burpee workout a shot but that really seems crazy!

Burpees for a mile! That is insane! What an awesome feat, that guy is a beast! I’ve done burpees and kettlebell swings like this:

20 Burpees, one arm swings, 10 each side
19 burpees, one arm swings, 10 each side
    18 burpees, etc.
all the way down to 10 burpees.
You do them as fast as you can and only rest when you have to. They are pretty intense, but not burpees for a mile intense!

I’ve heard of doing the count down style workouts — I like the mixing of the kettleball swings in, nice!
